Jakarta’s 2026 Revised Budget Prioritizes Continuity of Essential Services

Jakarta City Council leaders and Vice Governor Rano Karno have officially signed the agreement on the 2026 Revised General Budget Policies and Provisional Budget Ceiling and Priorities (KUA-PPAS).

Council Speaker Suhud Alynudin emphasized that the 2026 Revised City Budget (APBD-P) remains focused on ensuring the continuity of essential public services.
"Despite any budget reductions, we are committed to upholding mandatory spending, especially for education, health, and social welfare programs," he expressed, Thursday (8/27).

"This is the primary focus of the APBD and its subsequent revision," he added.
Suhud also mentioned that Jakarta's Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH) distribution is on par with the previous year's figures.
"The revenue sharing funds for Jakarta have been set to match last year’s allocation. Consequently, we're working to maintain the upcoming original budget at a steady level," he explained.
He anticipates an upward adjustment in the DBH allocation for Jakarta in the next budget cycle. He noted that boosting DBH is crucial for sustaining regional fiscal capacity, which directly impacts public service delivery and the execution of strategic projects.
"We're aiming for an increase during the RAPBD deliberations. Our priority is to avoid any service cuts and to ensure that Jakarta's strategic projects stay operational," he explained.
Previously, Home Minister Tito Karnavian announced that the government had disbursed Rp 18.9 trillion to 546 local governments. The funds were distributed through the settlement of DBH underpayments and a top-up of the General Allocation Fund (DAU).
This policy is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's directive and is stipulated in Finance Minister's Decree Number 198/2026. The funds are intended to assist regions in overcoming fiscal difficulties, including ensuring salary payments for Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) and preventing the need for furloughs or layoffs.
